For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time has come for my departure.I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

II Timothy 4:6-8

Some of My Favorite Colombia Pictures

These are all pictures taken by yours truly (Rick).  They can be viewed in two sizes, not including the “thumbnail”.  (Most people will find that the larger size is too large for their screen, unless they are running their display at a higher resolution like 1024 x 768.)

These pictures were all scanned from ordinary 3 x 5 prints, using a 300 dpi scanner, and sharpened using the software provided with the scanner, with (in most cases) minimal cleanup afterward.  It’s incredible what can be done nowadays.

From time to time I will scan and add more pictures.

Lomalinda Pictures

This first group are shots of Lomalinda, Meta, where we used to live.

Storm coming behind Heidi Marie and Heidi.  This was the only picture that required more extensive cleanup, since it was an old picture and in somewhat poor condition.  Actually it was done in two pieces.  Can you tell?

Lake shot.  The lake and surrounding swamp were home to anacondas, piranhas, electric eels, caimans (small alligators) and stingrays.  We loved to swim there!  (I’m not kidding about any of this.  The piranhas were not one of the aggressive species.)

Our Sport Utility Vehicle, outside our house.  The trees in the background are mango trees, the only tree that flourished in the incredibly poor soil there.

Scenic Pictures of Colombia

These are scenic pictures of the beautiful country of Colombia.  Most of these shots are of places near Bogotá.

Edge of the plateau above Choachí, Cundinamarca, on the road from Bogotá, approximately 11000 feet.  The bottom of the valley below is at about 5000 feet.  Can you see the two-story house at the left edge of the picture?  That should give you a feel for the size of the cliff!

Villa de Leiva, Boyacá.  Main square.  This town is an old colonial town whose architecture has been maintained in the colonial style.  One of the most restful places I’ve ever been.
